September 2023

Dear Juniata Community,

What a spectacular Mountain Day we had! Blue skies, calm water, and mild temperatures, with students, faculty, and staff enjoying an afternoon together are what makes for a memorable day.

September at Juniata College is a celebration of our community. We come together for beloved traditions like Lobsterfest, Mountain Day, and Storming of the Arch. This year, we also shared in moments like the football team’s first win of the season at Knox Stadium on Sept. 16. Additionally, our women’s volleyball remains the #1 team in the country after defeating numerous highly ranked teams through their first few weeks of competition.

Another September milestone is the arrival of rankings season. In the latest U.S. News & World Report Top Colleges ranking, Juniata rose to the 82nd spot among National Liberal Arts Colleges, earning notable recognition as 16th in the category of social mobility. Additionally, The Princeton Review’s rankings named Juniata one of the best colleges in the nation, sixth for most accessible professors, and number 25 for great financial aid. The Washington Monthly magazine rankings placed the College at 38th for liberal arts colleges in their 2023 publication. These rankings testify to Juniata’s outstanding dedication to fostering student success.

As our nationally-ranked Mock Trial team prepares for its sixth season and a slate of top-notch invitational tournaments, Juniata will host a scrimmage against Bucknell University on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Neff Lecture Hall, von Liebig Center for Science, and C116 in Brumbaugh Academic Center. If you've ever wondered about Mock Trial, this is a chance to see our "Legal Eagles" in action!

Sharing our Juniata College community stories and successes is an important way to encourage prospective students to consider visiting or applying. Spreading the word can make a significant impact through the Juniata Community Scholarship.

Warm regards,
President James A. Troha
