Juniata Achieves Third-Largest Incoming Class
Juniata welcomed its third-largest class of undergraduate students and the largest-ever class of graduate students in August 2023. More than 420 incoming undergraduate students started in the fall semester, and 40 graduate students enrolled. The Class of 2027 represents 23 states and 13 countries, with a 60% increase in local students from Central Pennsylvania.

New Statton Learning Commons Excites the Community
The Statton Learning Commons opened its doors to the College and the community in the spring semester. An instant success, the Statton Learning Commons logged over 82,000 unique visits over its first six months, becoming the favorite campus spot for studying, socializing, and scholarship. The innovative spaces include the living room, which was sponsored by the Class of 1974’s 50th Class Reunion Legacy Gift.

President Troha Named Chief of NCAA Division III Presidents Council
President James Troha is currently serving as chair of the NCAA Division III Presidents Council, the highest governing body for the NCAA’s largest division. He served previously as vice chair, a member of the NCAA Board of Governor’s Finance and Audit Committee, and a chair of the Strategic Planning and Finance Committee.

College Focuses on Reaching Carbon Neutral with First-Ever Sustainability Director
Juniata named Celina (Isenberg) Seftas ’07 as the inaugural director of sustainability, a position created as part of ongoing efforts to make the campus carbon neutral. With a wealth of knowledge and relationships in environmental and economic sustainability, Seftas will assess Juniata’s carbon footprint and explore avenues for reducing energy costs. One of her first initiatives was replacing the lights within Kennedy Sports and Recreation Center with LEDs for better cost efficiency.

Athletics Highlights
Women’s volleyball won their second straight NCAA National Championship—a back-to-back victory—after defeating Hope College in the finals. They are the fourth team in NCAA Division III history to go undefeated in a season to win a national championship. It is the program’s fourth NCAA Championship.
Men’s basketball made their fourth consecutive appearance in the Landmark Conference postseason. The team defeated Alvernia to take their third Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship.
Men’s volleyball earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Springfield in a five-set thriller before falling to Stevens in the Elite 8.
Men’s tennis clinched the fourth seed and a home playoff match in the Landmark Conference tournament for the first time since 2017, before falling to Catholic in the quarterfinals.
Softball had the best conference regular season record in program history (10–6) and earned the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament, where they lost to Catholic and Lycoming.
Women’s lacrosse made their first appearance in the playoffs, where they lost to eventual champion, Scranton, in the semifinals. They hosted Hartford in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championship and were victorious in their first championship.
